Exterior

Power wash the exterior.  Look for any spots with chipped paint or siding damage.  From there, you can add value by applying fresh paint where needed.  Take a close look at the fence, do some pickets need to be replaced?

Remove any objects littering the property.  Just like inside the house, use a critical eye to see things that may be detracting from the beauty of your home:  trashcans, parked cars, children’s toys, lawn ornaments.  Let your house speak for itself.

Once the basics are behind you, there may be other things to consider.  Does your home need a new garage door?  Is it in working order?  Do you have two remotes?  How about the driveway?  Is it cracked and in need of repair?  The patio or deck?  Is it free of clutter, safe, and inviting?  Sewer or septic?  In working order?

Remember, as a seller you are looking to get the best price for your home.  To do that, you may have to spend time and money to bring it up to par.

Take a step back and look at your house through the eyes of a buyer.  Next week we talk curb appeal.
